[QUOTE="Evan Saltis, post: 4910658, member: 103066"]Thank you for your posts! Looking forward to seeing more. You have a nice collection from what I see here. I was 12 when I got a couple of Morgans owned by my pappy, along with a franklin half and a WWII era Canadian quarter. I had been dabbling in the coin scene before then, but that was a catalyst, one of the Morgans was my great-grandfathers pocket piece, still in his pocket when he passed away. (scary?) It spurred me into a journey which has defined my life as a history buff and a lover of "the finer things."

I am 18 years old now, a college student, and I have heard plenty of negative remarks about how I am so "weird" for collecting coins. So, when possible, I'd always make an excuse to show off in middle school and high school. The other kids, when they got to hold 17th-century coins, realized what they had been missing out on. Now, I've given away parts of my collection to some of them to help them get interested in something tangible and valuable, rather than collecting video games which are liabilities, much less of an asset, even if the coin market was to tank. (fingers crossed.)

My advice to you as a young man is to collect what YOU want to. My mistake was collecting by year or collecting what other people liked.
