I decided in February 2015 that I wanted to complete a set of Peace Dollars (without the errors). My goal was to buy one per month and finish in 24 months. Well, that worked for about 18 months, but then life got in the way. I finally got the last one to complete the set last week, more than five years after I started my two-year project. I'm happy with most of them; I bought only PCGS graded coins and mainly looked for eye appeal and a price near or below the price guide (CoinWorld). The only one I really don't care for is the 1928, but it was the hardest to find in my price range. Sorry about the image quality, but here they are.
Congratulations on completing a goal. I have found it generally takes much longer to complete a goal related to this hobby then I generally think it will. It is very satisfying when you finally get to that original goal. The nice thing is somewhere down the road you may have the opportunity to upgrade that 28. Good hunting and again, congrats!
My congratulations also on a job well done. Don't fret the '28 - an upgrade will eventually come along and in you price range. Thanks for showing us your project.
Very nice set. Detours in life happen to all of us. You saw the finish line and crossed it. Congratulations on a worthy endeavor.
Nice set and congratulations on completing it. It's hard in todays world to keep the enthusiasm and drive, so I think five years is excellent.
Congrats on finishing the set. I agree with you on the '28. The next phase will be upgrading, which means your set will only get better and better.
I probably will eventually upgrade the '28, but I have other sets I'd like to complete now, so I don't know if I'll upgrade any of the others.
Congratulations on the completion! I just received the last Peace dollar for my collection yesterday and will be posting my complete set post in the next day or so. Your set looks amazing and you should be proud. And not that I am being nosy or demanding, but no reverse photos?
I thought about posting pictures of the reverses, too, but I haven't figured out the lighting, so I'm not getting great images. I didn't think it would help. Maybe I should, though, so you can see how I make my choices. For the Peace dollars I basically looked at two things; the word TRUST on the obverse, and the word PEACE on the reverse. I want both of those to be as legible as I can find/afford.
What could have been a lifetime of work in only 5 years, you are to be commended for your effort and diligence. A great big congratulations to you! Thank you for sharing your prize with us.
