Well, that wasn't all that difficult until they started asking for the grade, yet not asking for it in the mobile app. I used to "spelunk" for pictures regularly.
Which makes it still easier to find them on the PCGS site as you don't have to put in the grade. Some people (mostly forum posters) are upset they lost that resource with PCGS and I get that and that's understandable. Others are just purely anti PCGS and using it as a reason to bash them for doing it how NGC does. There is a lot of disingenuous bashing coming from certain people So if we want to actually look at something objectively than people should be up in arms NGC doesn't have a view all pictures button either. Between the two it's easier to get information from the PCGS records than the NGC ones.
Is that because the serial number is built from the coin number in PCGS, but the invoice number in NGC? Keep in mind, if you do NGC lookups in the mobile app, you DON'T need the grade. Odd. When I see an interesting NGC coin, I can still check out the other coins on that same invoice. I never cared for, or cared about, coin "glamour shots", whether they came from PCGS or anyone else, fellow CT members included. Consider me NOT in the potential customer base.
I believe the adding the grade part the logic was to make it harder to data mine the NGC certs. PCGS may end up following that if they agree that's an issue, but with all the auction archives it seems a bit silly to me as it isn't hard to find certs for things anyway. I can get the intention of it, it just seems pointless with all the records out there already that won't be going away. Those got better over the years but weren't always the greatest. I know a lot of people like the focus on toning, I can go either way with that. That said they do full slab shots for submissions to the international offices and they have said they expect to picture every coin in the future at some point.
This thread has an interesting vibe with 25% of the posts ignored. I’m going to stay out of this one.
Or Legend or Carr. I had to toss a hand grenade into this thread before going back to bed. Insomnia is awful.
