I just had a discussion with my LCS about selling me currency in old PCGS holders. He says it's not a big deal and I responded that the old PCGS holders can no longer be verified and that when one enters the holder's number it brings up a silver coin. In other words the number on the old PCGS currency holder is no longer valid. I pointed out that this could be an issue when reselling. What do you think? Out there in dealer land is there a discount offered on currency residing in old PCGS holders?
PCGS licensed its name for a decade. https://www.greysheet.com/news/stor...-independent-company-brand-reverts-back-to-cu After the license ended in 2019, the licensee opened a new company. https://legacygrading.com/about/ A few years later, PCGS (the coin graders) started a new grading service, PCGS Banknote Grading.
I wouldnt own an old PCGS holder if you held a gun to my head !! when leadership of the collectors universe PCGS went belly up people like me lost thousands !! had many one of kinds that were heavily discounted because there was no loger a verification or registry.
