OK, but to be sure I understand, you crossed this over for a PCGS grade in the NGC holder, not cracked out and submitted as raw, correct...? Thanks.
It's a beautiful Merc! I LOVE the subtle toning at the top and bottom. As far as grade? I would say MS-65 before and MS-65 after. I think it has a bit too much chatter on the reverse and a bit in the obverse fields. I don't think it got FSB due to the hit on the left side of the center bands.
In my experience, it is hard to sell the war year Mercs without full bands no matter how nice they are. Due to the prevalence of full bands for these years, collectors simply don't want coins without full bands. I understand your reasoning for adding it to your submission, but I would have left it in the NGC holder and let the toning drive the premium.
I do think this was the weakest part of the sub, but I also think the holder and TrueView will still help a little. There is enough hesitancy among people to buy an NGC non star holder, that I think I will at least get the value it deserves vs sitting for a while unsold (my ask would be basically the same amount as before; I did have one offer early on but back then I passed and no more arrived while it was in the NGC holder).
