I had planned to go Wednesday, but really bad weather set me back a day. Thursday was a magnificently sunny day — and a reminder that the hot season is just about upon us in south Louisiana. The show was held at the hotel of Harrah’s casino in downtown New Orleans, a couple of blocks from the French Quarter. About 20 or so dealers were exhibiting. Talk about some high-grade coins, especially in the gold category! The highlight of my show was meeting John Brush and John Call of David Lawrence. They nabbed my show allowance with a 1936 satin Buffalo proof that had been the subject of a lengthy hunt by yours truly. Can’t wait to show it off! I had four grading vouchers from PCGS. I’d never submitted my own coins, so a PCGS rep showed me the ropes. Submitted a 2021 O-privy Morgan, a 2021 Peace and the two-coin 2021 ASE reverse proof set. Total cost:$32 for the mailing cost. PCGS says there’s currently a 50-day processing time for routine submissions. Before you ask, I did not venture into the casino, knowing I would hear the siren of the blackjack tables. I’m out of shape on the tables and need to work with my blackjack trainer before playing. All in all, it was a happy few hours.[/QUOTE]
