PCGS Models my 76-S Ike to Showcase New Apollo Label

Thought this was neat- the PCGS main page has a new banner ad showing their new Apollo label, and they used my 1976-S MS68 Ike as a model coin along with the new Apollo silver dollar. My Ike isn’t even the plate coin in Coin Facts. I hope this means that they really liked it. Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool.

Here’s my Ike in its real holder.

Beautiful coin, but not a fan of the label.

Can see why they picked yours, looks to have great eye appeal.

Pretty label for the new one too.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

I really can't stand ANY of PCGS's special labels. They look so ... crummy. That piece of garbage they put on 50th anniversary Kennedy halves was ugloid on stilts.

I tend to prefer the plain NGC label over the schmaltzy speciality labels, but the few I've ended up with look more understated and professional than these full color monstrosities, and gold foil, like on the Saddle Ridge pieces, that PCGS likes. I don't care for their tastes one bit.

I agree. I do like NGC’s special labels. They look far and away better than those of PCGS. There is no comparison really, IMO. I like PCGS’s Gold Shield label best of all ‘cause that means there’s a TrueView. Well, most of the time, anyway.

The gold foil most didn't like and were reholdered. That said NGC has had plenty of ugly labels and PCGS has had plenty of very attractive ones.

It's not a one way street unless someone is just predetermining it by the company

Not my thing at all really, but the label sure is clean and to the point. I guess this is a better option than schmaltz on the label.

No, the San Fran is too far. Cheap-looking.

Funny since NGC does it too with that core

Not in my collection, they don't. I have exactly ONE non-white NGC, a black insert I bought that way. Leave the darned things UNDERSTATED!

Agreed. I think the flag one presents well while the San Francisco has too much going on.

I'd prefer even the flag as a wash, and less vibrant. The coin is supposed to be the focus!
