First day of issue is a big deal in stamp collecting or least was when my mother collected. But the stamp actually had a postmark on the official first day of issue to prove it. Some marketing guru came up with that nonsense for coins.
Well, newbie here, wasn't the original question, "PCGS Ike label misleading?" Well no and then yes. In context, starting in 1976 to now, 2015, that is forty years. Looking at it that way the anniversary would be correct. 1977 and 1978 no, not until we reach 2016 and 2017, so then yes if you are getting an Ike graded now, in 2015 for coins with dates 1977 and 1978, the "anniversary" part would be incorrect. Yes, to those scratching their head, I'm OCD !
Ike's are an ugly coin that you don't want to carry around in your pockets. But there is money in them ugly Ike's, even in the P's and D's, not just the Silver. Anything graded MS 65 and up is an invest-able coin. Some MS 66's and especially MS 67's are very expensive. So there is good money in them Ike's
It's a custom label created for some large submitter and he used it on Ike dollar sets to create a "collectible set" The label is meaningless. If you have the money and submit enough coins they will create any label you like.
