Ugh. As I was clicking back into this thread, a roach flew between me and the screen and landed on the window. I'd have been happier to see it in a slab, but it's DEFDAM at this point.
Nope, it was a large window, and would've been expensive to kick. We've got a swatter that's spiked on one side, and does an excellent job of both killing and retaining pests for disposal. But, as I said, definite damage to the subject. I released it into circulation, counter-clockwise around the toilet bowl.
You know, unless they are 'DEFDAMed' to death, they will certainly survive that wild ride in the whirlpool and simply set up 'shop' wherever they end up. Back in my middle years, I worked in engineering and did environmental studies, sometimes involving sanitary sewers, pipes and treatment plants. In those places, you see enough of those to last a lifetime. It's often said that a roach will be the last living thing on earth.
Yeah, I know a bit more than I'd like about conditions inside sewer lines. The bug was only "under water" for a few seconds, then it was surfing time out to the city sewers. But it was Really Most Sincerely Dead, I promise.
