I'm guessing they have so many packages that it's just piled up in some receiving room. In normal times, they open everything within a day or two but now it's taking weeks to open.
It makes sense that the in-box has become the in-warehouse. If they're not checked in, it doesn't affect their turnaround times.
All well and good. However, IMHO anything over 14 working days is something that needs to be fixed - whatever it takes. We had a joke at two of the smaller TPGS I worked at "We ain't got no life!"
Just mailed my submission package to PCGS today. Not expecting good turnaround time, but at least the coins are sent out.
I sent in 6 coins for grading back in Apr. They received the coins on the 29th and I have gotten one back so far that they mailed on May 25th. The other five are in QA at this time.
They state: Your submission is in quality assurance. Label information, grades and holders are being verified.
My economy that arrived may 7 at PCGS shipped back to me yesterday 6/10. They also told me the truview images take another couple weeks to show up on the cert.
It took about a week after receiving my coins back before their truview images showed up. All in all I think they look great. Received 5/7 shipped 6/10.
The 1806 is a lovely "circ-cam." I was recently informed they have a name for it, even though I've liked them long before I knew the name.
I do not submit directly to PCGS any more; a dealer friend sent 1 coin of his and 2 of mine back in March and it took a little over a month to received them back. My 2: Maybe it takes longer for their obvious careful authentication...
The 93 is S-11a if authentic. The 97 had to be a S-139. But is it a good one or one of the counterfeits?
7/2 I received Photos by text this morning so I think it's ready to be picked up. I just received confirmation as I was typing. PCGS Genuine Exc.
