[QUOTE="physics-fan3.14, post: 3931344, member: 19165"]There were a lot of people who were loyal to NGC, and actively participated in the Registry on NGC solely for the reason that they were accepting both slabs. NGC was the better company, so we thought, because of their willingness to have PCGS coins in their registry. Perhaps you might not have had brand loyalty to NGC, and that's fine. Perhaps you don't participate in the Registry at all, and that's fine too. But some of us do, and some people take it more seriously than others. It was a purely money-driven decision, and not to benefit the collectors. In our minds, NGC was there as a service, and we chose that service because of its perceived values. When NGC changed their policy, with the implications that in order to compete you had to spend additional money to cross everything over to NGC slabs, it was absolutely the opposite of the reason we'd joined in the first place. NGC became everything we were trying to avoid with the exclusivity of PCGS.

On top of all that, the decision was made suddenly, and Mark Salzberg attempted to justify it with a series of ludicrous opinion pieces.
