PCGS closed-Now Reopened-now re-closed

I sometimes wonder if this hobby has any sanity at all. That being said, I wouldn’t be upset with fewer posts of “should I send this piece of garbage to a TPG?” Posts.

Eh, I'm not afraid. I do think that people need to take this thing more seriously though. Stop thinking about themselves and start thinking about other people around them who their actions may affect.

 

And, dare I say, arm yourself? There is an awful lot of misinformation out there regarding the current situation.

 

Why? So I can go take my neighbor's toilet paper when I run out?

 

No argument here. People who don't believe that we're not all in this together should just hunker down in their bunker and stay there, forever. We don't need them.

 

We just lost our first person in MD to corona. It will be getting a lot worse before it gets better. Like you said, people need to figure out that we are all in this together.

Perhaps I am getting too optimistic, but perhaps this will be a turning point for humanity. Realizing that chasing the all-mighty dollar isn't what life should be about.

 

I interpreted @green18's comment metaphorically -- "arm yourself" against the misinformation, with good information.

Besides, everyone knows that you raid your neighbor's TP bunker while they're out on a shopping sortie.

Got an email tonight saying they’re back open for business

 

...even before COVID-19, many of us have been saying that TPGs aren't necessary to the industry...just sayin'...

 

But how will you know that you have a decent coin if you don't pay someone an exorbitant fee to have them tell you?
Do you expect me to do my own research and learn grading criteria myself?
Are you crazy?

MARCH 18, 2020 UPDATE

Orange County has clarified its emergency order and is now allowing businesses, including Collectors Universe, to resume operations. As a result, Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) will resume operations, effective immediately.

As evident by the multiple policy changes, the situation remains extremely fluid. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this ordeal. Ultimately, we are committed to both the health and safety of our employees and the delivery of our services to our loyal customers.

MARCH 20, 2020 UPDATE

Pursuant to Executive Order N-33-20, issued on March 19, 2020 by the Governor of California, Collectors Universe’s Orange County office has closed until it is deemed safe to resume operations.

As a result, Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) have temporarily ceased operations, effective immediately.

It is evident to all that we are in uncharted territory. For now, the larger public good mandates this closure. We will share our reopen date once it is established by the state of California.
