I think it's rather obvious to anybody who reads this thread just who the person is that doesn't know what they are talking about.

No, they graded and encapsulated coins that had salt water and organic encrustation removed from the coins. Doing this does not alter the appearance of the coins. It merely removes what is on the outside so that the appearance of the coin can be seen.

And I find somewhat comical that you now change your story. Before you claimed that it was PCGS doing the doctoring and conserving

I'm fighting facts ? That is laughable.

And you can ask all you want, but I'll reply to any post I see fit to reply to ;)

Let's assume, for arguments sake, that Mark Feld, desertgem, Lehigh96, GDJMSP, The Penny Lady, and schatzy (Sorry, I mean no offense to anyone if I left you name out) really have no idea what they are talking about. You would still have to be an expert lawyer, an expert numismatist, an expert CEO, and an expert chemist just to hold a candle to PCGS's expertise. For someone whom I have no clue about except that you are anti business, I figure your chances are about nil of convincing me anything PCGS does is even remotely wrong.

My goodness Mad. Many here could say the same of you, but don't. I see this case to be about dealers that signed agreements with PCGS and broke them. Nothing more.

My lay person's concern would be that it seems that PCGS graded it one way and then later ( with better equipment or procedures or graders) PCGS graded it altered. My question is how will they prove the fact of the first coin's condition with or without a photo, was the coin evaluated by a 3rd party? Or do they have utube video of them doing it ? I bet all of the coin experts are lining up to be expert consultants in this case.

My guess is that it has nothing to do with the coin grade to begin with. Dealers sign an agreement not to submit altered coins. All you have to prove is that the coins (probably multiple coins) have been altered. I am not even sure it matters who altered the coin, but that would just be a SWAG.

Those are the people I would worry about.

No I would not. I do agree you are allowed your opinions write or wrong, but I believe I will stick with the lehighs, the RLM's, Mark Feld, Penny Lady and of course Doug. I think their knowledge speaks for itself.

Now on this OP's topic - it would not matter to me even if they did come out with a machine to grade and determine eye appeal, tooling, surfaces or any other thing. The reason is simple - we all determine our own eye appeal and guess what - "Buy the coin - not the holder or the grade on the holder". Just my humble opinion.

So far from post #45 to here you have 7 questions and zero facts (supported facts, that is).

And in this case I will take it as a complement and move on. :)

Respect is earned. You have earned zero respect. With no respect on this forum, how do you expect to be listened to?

Here is where ya' started to dig that grave of yours...

You had a friendly post before this one, and then out of nowhere you went ape. There was no point to put on your sparring gear and get defensive with Doug. Doug is one of, if not, the most knowledgeable person on this forum. He likes to debate other people, because he has knowledge that others don't. He calls em' out on it, and shows them what is right, because he can. He has earned respect. People listen to him.

And to you, I'm guessing I have no clue right? Well thats okay, you remind me of a former member, his name was BNB, and you are just about as classless and useless as he was.

ice Just happy to be here

A machine can grade a coin but eye appeal is eye appeal I see coins all the time that I just find to be ugly they have ugly toning funky breaks in the luster therefore they have zero eye appeal for me. I not sure a machine can determine eye appeal.

I am willing to bet PCGS has the proof to bring the case to court. I wouldn't be suprized to find out PCGS didn't hire someone to get coins doctored so they could gather the evidence they needed.

Madoutcast you are quickly losing respect by you account if I dig a coin and then remove the dirt I just doctored the coin. When they removed the encrusting on the gold coins you can bet they made sure it wouldn't effect the metal the coin was made of or they wouldn't have done it in the first place. Ice
