Cool coins, I have several french revolution coins, too.
Why did you send some coins to PCGS and the other half to NGC?

mostly I send the Chinese coins to NGC due to the cost 25$ vs 45$
The 1797 PCGS said was scratched. I didn't not believe so. seems it wasn't.

Did the PCGS folks think the "line" on the 1797 obverse, just below the chin, was a scratch, or where? Nice coins!!

It would be nice if a grading service would be good enough to specify where a scratch is, what made them think a coin was cleaned, what they mean by "details," etc. We pay enough for them to provide such additional information in writing.

They might not say so on the slab but might in the forms that come with it

Any cartwheel 2p that doesn't have nasty rim bumps is a desirable coin. Very nice!

i asked the Pcgs president about if they though about telling specifically why a coin comes back with a details grade and he said they pondered it but i woukd be too much hassel. its ashame. no they don't tell you in paper or anywhere

Scratch? Au details? Were these guys playin' Eight Ball? One of the reasons why I like my coins un-coffined.

Lovely indeed and my advice would be to hold 'em close without the holder.........

you know I have thought about that many times but my ability to drop things and lay them around its safer for them in the coffin. I dropped way to many coins. I do miss being able to hold them but preserving them is a little more important to me. I have about another 800 coins I didn't slab so I guess its a trade off.
