I'm Very glad to hear that you called and got their 'input', not that it resolved the situation for you, but now you know why they put the hold on your account. It's an unfortunate side of dealing with them that you'll have to endure. It's not unusual for companies to put new employees on a 90 day probationary period in case things don't work out or they cannot maintain business to keep new hires on payroll either. I don't think your current 'hold' with PayPal is much different in concept. PayPal just has an odd (random?) policy here and one that can unexpectedly effect you financially. Hang in there, it sounds like you are building a good reputation in the process and will be through this period soon enough. :thumb:
Odd or random!! policy!! are you serious, just call it what it is jacked up! By the way Do you work for Pay-pal??? I think you would make a great poster child LOL
No, I do not work for PayPal/eBay (nor USPS) but I can defend their policies better than you who are woefully misinformed, even barbaric in your loud mouth put downs to these companies. What exactly transpired in your final decision to not use these companies? That might be a really enlightening story to hear because you truly harbor a distaste that smacks of someone who feels jilted by something they can't grasp. Please explain how the PayPal payment hold policy is "jacked up." It is their policy. It is a policy of a private company, who chose to put it in place for reasons their own, for account protection due to past problems and to limit liability when problems occur. Get some education Rusty and stop commenting about a service you don't even use, nor understand in the first place.
Indeed! It's not a clear policy as currently applied. This is also why it is important for people to call PayPal directly when they do enact this policy and to tell them you disagree with how they execute the policy plus the potential negative effects on your finances. Enough of this random application of policy will negatively effect their business if enough people disagree and take their business elsewhere.
I dont use the services because ive already experienced them And there unfair at best why you continue to defend them boggles The mind, private company or not!! Why dont you get some Education Chris instead! It,s obvious by your remarks you need Some!! Since your going to continue to beat this thread to death with more Comments, I will end mine here:hail:
Regarding your question about positive feedback from the buyers...:hammer:I would ask for them to leave positive feedback if they are happy and let them know that if you leave no feedback at all that it is considered a negative to ebay. I am not sure why e-bay has decided to do that, but whatever...I did not know when I first started buying and selling that it was so important to leave feedback. I did not think it was pushy at all when people asked me to leave feedback...some people really do not know that no feedback is considered bad feedback...I appreciated the information. I always leave feedback. I do think ebay should not consider it negative with no feedback..some people are just busy.
That you've 'experienced them' but have no examples to impart your wisdom remains to do anything to assist others as you purport your comments do for the thread(s). Why? Because you spew misinformation about them in these threads and are frustrated by them due to your own lack of understanding of their policies and services. Thank you. :thumb:
BTW: Did you ask her if they randomly do this or did you gather from your conversation that it's random? I'll be coming up on 100 sales soon and I'd like to know ahead of time if I'm gonna be shut down. Also does 21 day restriction keep you from buying with PayPal or just sending yourself a check?
After 100 positive FB they'll be no hold. They put the hold on everyone. The restriction is just on sending yourself a check, not buying.
When I first started selling, there was no hold. After about a month or so is when then did this to me. I've got over 100 positive feedback scores, and they're still doing it. When I asked the gal about that, she said that doesn't necessarily mean they will stop holding my funds. Thanks for the advice without the politics, Michel. I've had people ask me for feedback. I was just worried about that backfiring on me. But it really doesn't matter if someone gets upset about me asking, I'm getting penalized either way.
I called paypal yesterday. Today I get an email that was supposed to link me to a form to fill out. There was no form at that link. I called back today and talked to Al. He said that was a bogus email and to forward it to him. Why would anyone want to send me a bogus email? I also had two more positive feedbacks in the past three days, but the money is still pending. Al saw this and said he took care of it, but it's still pending. I'll wait until after the holiday, then try again. Al also told me that my standing is great and sees no reason why this can't be lifted after my review, but he had no idea when that review would be.
That's great to hear you've been in contact with them and I'm sure the process will take some time to sort out but that they have reassured you of your standing and are looking into the problem since you alerted them is a positive direction. I feel that they are on your side while unfortunately those bogus or phishing emails are not. Phishing emails purporting to be PayPal sadly persist. I get them semi-frequently myself and have learned to spot them very easily. Never reply to them, instead turn on the emails 'full headers' to show the routing path or details the email took from the sender to you, and forward those to spoof@paypal.com. PayPal reviews each one and sends back a reply to confirm whether it was a phishing email or not.
Al directed me to spoof@paypal. I don't think Al or the other rep I talked to are trying to snow me. It's just like every other company. They're giving me the information they know, even though they contradict each other. It happens all the time. I'm still hanging in there.
Gentelemen Please leave the Personal comments out ok Now as for the paypal affair, let it run its course and withdraw your money then phone them up and tell them you intend to close your ebay account and paypal account due to there actions. this is the only language such institutions understand a loss of revenue.
I called paypal about pending balance So yeah, I called paypal just curious (and high) and I told them that i have provided tracking information and was wondering when my pending balance will be released. they told me as soon as they receive delivery confirmation to call them up and they will release the funds.. guess ill call em up after delivery and see how it goes... Laters
Fairly easy to get past this policy Well for my first post....... I have had a paypal account since 2004 so when I signed up with feebay I was a noob and after my second or third sale they tried this crap with me. I didn't wait nor moan about it. I called paypal immediately and said hey whats up I am a verified paypal seller for 6 years... got the whole feebay policy blah blah run around but I had sent my item with tracking so the policy is as follows. If you send an item with tracking post it in the feepal page... three days after its delivered regardless of feedback or not they will release it. I did tell them if they kept this up I would close both accounts and not do business with them as after all they are the same company raking us over the fee coals twice. I also put on all my ads that paypal is the only payment I accept due to ebay holds and that the customer will receive my paypal invoice to pay for the item. So far some still check out with ebay but no more holds. I also think if you keep in contact and let them know this is causing problems for you since you put the item in the mail and have no $$ to show for it.. it presents a problem if the buyer is dishonest and the seller is punished unfairly for 3 weeks. Moral of the story... use some form of tracking and charge more for shipping to cover that cost.... I keep a fairly high shipping price anyway because the cost is more than just postage... such as bubble mailers tape etc.... it all ads up when your selling little $$ items. Hope that helps Liane
Has a hint of conversion of property if you ask me. Holding your money for 21 days - is the money still in the buyers account or has it been cleared to some escrow account which paypal is principal?
Talk is paypal is collecting interest on our money. Paypal started holding my money after about two months of selling. That went on for about two months, now the hold is off my account. For now.
