Susan, please tell us more about Bidpay.I shall recommend it to people I know if it proves that Bidpay will not stoop to the extremely low level that Paypal has gone to.

Since Bidpay does not require an actual "account", it is much easier to use and very secure. In essence, the buyer purchases a Western Union money order with their credit card. There is a fee for the money order that is paid by the buyer. There are choices regarding the shipping of the money order - if you want to expedite or not - and there is a charge for that also.

All in all, US buyers prefer Paypal because the seller pays the fees. We have had no problem with International buyers using Bidpay and they prefer it since we can't accept an International Paypal payment. It is extremely convenient for the buyer and the whole transaction can be completed for the buyer in about 3 minutes.

If the seller is not registered with Bidpay, it takes longer because the buyer has to enter all of the auction information along with the seller ID and seller mailing info. Here is a link for anyone who wants to check it out:

    Hope this helps.

IMHO paypal is the devil. They practive deceitful advertising, doing everything possible to convince buyers that legitimate sellers prefer paypal and all others are crooks.
They say that sellers get payment instantly but that's not true. The only thing sellers get instantly is PIXELS. If you want money, it takes them a few days to transmit it into your account and if you want a check that takes a week or two AND they charge you for it.

This scenario happens all the time...a merchant sells an item. The buyer pays with paypal. Merchant ships item, then shortly afterward paypal takes the money from the merchants account, saying the transaction was done with fraudulent funds. The seller then doesn't have the item OR the money. Sent to a confirmed address? Doesn't matter. The buyer was verified? Doesn't matter.

And know here's something even more scary.

Some buyers can place a "signature waiver" on file with ups and fedex. So even though the seller ships to a confirmed address, and uses an online trackable shipping method, as to totally fulfill the paypal seller protection policy requirements, the buyer simply has to say they never received the item, and there's no signature to prove it...so the seller loses. Paypal doesn't recognize signature waivers.

I too encourage my buyers to use bidpay. Sellers really do prefer bidpay, because they get a money order.

I stopped using paypal about a year ago and have never been happier. Virtually every problem transaction we had was a paypal transaction. We run 50-150 auctions weekly and VERY rarely have any problems these days.
