If you lose your job and need money to pay the bills then you go to a pawn shop to sell your unnecessary stuff. The pawn shops know that this is their function, so just like paying interest on a loan, you are going to have to accept a cut in value of the item you are selling as a fee for that service. Everyone is talking about profit and in my mind it is not about his profit margin. It is just like the $6.00 loaves of bread at 7-11, it is all about providing the service of instant cash and convenience. It is simply faster and easier to take your stuff to a pawnbroker than to list it in eBay, why then would you expect to NOT pay a fee for his services?
