Another one for my gallery of rulers - I've added Caecelia Paulina, wife of the tryant Maximinus Thrax! This sestertius isn't perfect, but i like a bit of honest wear, and she isn't cheap in premium quality! Again, an ephemeral character - nothing is known of her life and all her coins are posthumous, like this one showing her riding a peacock to heaven, as one does! Bring on your Paulinas!
Super coin @GregH ! Excellent condition. Mine has been around the block a few times... RI Caecilia Paulina wife Maximinus I Died before CE 235 AE Sestertius 30.77mm 19.66g 2nd emiss of Maximinus I CE 236 Peacock RIC IV 3 RARE
But still, a perfectly respectable Paulina. Now I’m back from travels, I should be able to add a few more rulers quickly ...
Wonderful coin GregH ! What a fantastic portrait ! The original struck with fresh dies and the so fine preservation of the details : one of the most appreciable examples for sure. I have a hope : to see a high resolution of this coin. I know Paulina's age and I don't want to charm her, but her weight is though interesting me. If you know it... betray it ! Thanks !
That's a nice Paulina @GregH It would fit nicely with my denarius of hers Paulina, Denarius - Rome mint AD 236 DIVA PAULINA, Veiled and draped bust of Paulina right CONSECRATIO, Paulina on peacock flying 3.3 gr Ref : RCV #8400, Cohen #2 Q
