Patriotic Coin Photography Contest

1. Winged Liberty, a sign of freedom of thought -- an underlying premise of our great country.





2. The Eagle, an heraldic sign of our country since it's founding days.





3. The "Sower", while a French coin design, I find this coin to be symbolic of the planting of new ideas and progress. The design later inspired the US coinage of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. This particular example of the coin was minted just after World War I, which is a fitting reminder that while we are separate countries, the world goes beyond our borders. It is a reminder of fraternity of countries to maintain the ideals and freedoms we cherish.

Bumping this for anyone still interested in putting up some photos of theirs. Contest will end tomorrow, and anyone can enter until end of day then. On Wednesday, I'll start looking at the photos for choosing the 'finalists', and get those up for voting within a few days.

It shows ultimate freedom in the ability to do what you wish without restraint by tyranny. This is one of the things on which this country is based.

Thank you all for entering. This has been one of the hardest things to do, to get it down to 15 choices for voting. I could barely do that, and at the end, I practically cried because I was letting some go.

I hope that everyone who entered, even those I did not "select" for voting, are going to be happy with the one picture that eventually wins.
