    Sorry Kasia. No hijack intended. It's just when I think 'patriotic' I think of the men depicted upon those medals.

    My submission:

    The reverse of the Mercury Dime features a fasces and an olive branch. Fasces are a bundle of sticks with an axe blade emerging from it. This represented power and jurisdiction. It also represents "Strength Through Unity". On the Mercury dime, it represents America's Military Preparedness for war. The Olive Branch represents America's strive for peace. The significance of them both together is that even though the main goal is peace, if America is provoked, it is always ready.

    Controversial coin, Falkland liberation 50p, it is also strange because the denomination is on the obverse and not the reverse.
