I'm assuming that this the only value to this is the melt value. Correct?

The head of Liberty looks way too fake for me. It's worth melt of whatever metal it's actually made out of.

I weighed it. 4.1 grams/.14 oz. A complete one would be 6.25 grams/.22 oz. So the part that I have weighs 65.6% of the whole. If the missing piece were 1/4 of the coin, it should weigh 4.6875 grams. The missing piece is a little less than 1/4 of the coin. I wouldn't say that the weight confirms that it is not 90% silver & 10% copper.

The edge is still reeded in places.

However, I agree. It doesn't look right.

if it is real it looks like it took an acid bath or was found in the ground and cleaned.

Found on the ground & cleaned is a possibility. My father in law liked to play around with metal detectors.
