Not a Roll Search Find, but I thought this forum would do. Went to the grocery store today. While pushing the empty cart in the corral with the rest, I looked down at the curb and noticed a keeper. The first JFK half I've found in the wild in at least a decade. Excuse the lighting. Pics taken with spouse's cell phone on napkin in car. 1981 D JFK
I agree with the Mountain Man...not a common find on the ground. I may have found them metal detecting as a kid, but never a dropped half dollar in the parking lot. Cool!!
...cool find...it’s worth $.75 in AU58...not much appreciation. 1982 and 1983 go for $1.00 in MS60. Honestly, from circulation, 70s and 80s are clad worth very little, and AU58 are the best you are likely to find...just dial up NGC and see what they say...and those are for certified...Spark
...and don’t go lookin’ for Bicentennial halves...NGC doesn’t even list the year...jumps from ‘74 to ‘77...Spark
What NGC has done is list bicentennial halves as “1776” because it has a double date (1776-1976). It shows at the top of the list at their coin guide. Bicentennial coinage was produced for 2 years beginning in 1975, but no coin carries the numerals for the first year. I believe this is true for quarters, halves and Ike dollars. ...And they made tons and tons of them. The only half dollar with some juice is the ‘76-S silver proof listing at $5.00 for a MS60. Business strikes need to be MS63 or better for any significant value. Hope this helps to clarify...jmho...Spark
