Greek currency has been demonetized numerous times. If Greece leaves the Euro, they will print all new currency.

Greece has always been screwed up. Any time you have a 100 Billion note, you are messed up. Any time you tell people to tear currency in half and use each half at full value, you are messed up...

MEC got me hooked on these obsoletes. Here's a few I picked up in the last week, the 28 numeral is by far one of my favorites. I have a real nice national on the way, yule love it!

Great, I have created competition for myself...

Oh, those are not obsoletes - obsolete currency has no redeemable face value.

Okay, step into the Wayback Machine for this note, going all the way back to when Texas was it's own country... very pleased with this new arrival, it's my nicest RoT note so far, this collection is starting to fill in quite nicely. Cost me a bit more than I normally pay but am pleased overall...

Nice RoT note MEC. Those aren't cheap as it is and your example looks to be a VF from the scan.

Okay, time for a new note! Just won this off theBay, I don't normally collect alot of non-1776 Colonials, but this 1780 Connecticut was signed by someone named J. Chester, which happens to be my sons initial/name as well as my brothers, so... it must be mine! I overpaid a bit for it because I didn't want the chance to lose it, never know if you get another opportunity to see your kids name on 200+ year old money...

I usually don't go for modern notes, but sometimes I find some interesting designs and stories.

Got these at the Flea Market today

I've always wanted a large size note and I couldn't pass this one up...and I picked up these Series 1928 Red Seals UNC w/ consecutive serial numbers. And I didn't pay anywhere near the price on the sticker that's for sure!

Also bought this at the flea market today. My dealer showed up with everything from Confederate Money to a Buffalo, to modern silver certificates. I couldn't pass on this note or the other 3 above. I didn't pay anywhere near sticker price and he gave me a price I couldn't refuse. :thumb:

Didn't pay anywhere near $30?! Must've been a smackin' deal! Either that or I need a new list of places to check for deals haha. Been on the lookout for ANY cheap large size note for more than a year now.

Haha well the two large size notes are marked $130 and $150...I actually only paid $200 for all four notes..which I thought was good.

That's not too bad. The sticker prices seem to be spot on in regards to book value. I assume the Woodchopper is a Choice Fine 15, and the Black Eagle a Fine 12.

My question to you is what kind of flea market is this?!

    Interesting.

The Kingdom of Kamberra is an invention of Luxembourg artist Franck Medina (King Franck I), as a focus for the creation of his artistamp and banknote designs. It is purportedly a small Pacific island nation, founded on 24 August, 1988. Home to a population of 23,800 who speak Spanish and Kamberri, it is described as a place of "peace, well-being, tolerance and sharing". Mr Medina's website states that the name "Kamberra" is derived from the Kamberri word "kamba'area", meaning "meeting place".The similarity with the name of Australia's capital city, Canberra (named for a Ngunawal Aboriginal word also meaning "meeting place") is probably deliberate.

I go to a flea market in Jersey and it's just your run of the mill flea market. They have a ton of people selling new stuff cheap, they have food and such. Then on the other side of the lot they have all the guys who are pickers and guys who are selling stuff they get out of storage lockers. So you get everything from old to new. The guy I get these from, and coins from, is just a dealer. He only does flea markets, but he buys all of his sterling jewlery and such from a smelter, so he gets a good price on it. He also buys estates and such so he comes across a lot of coins mostly. But he's been telling me about this huge lot of paper money that he was going to buy and he finally showed up with it yesterday. He probably has no less than 150 notes. And he has everything from Confederate money to modern silver certificates. He also buys gold and silver and pays a little over 90%. I've sold him thousands in gold and silver and he always has the best price around. He was buying ASE yesterday for $28. So I just got lucky and found him and now I do business with him constantly.

Yeah, it was just one of those things that I was walking around one day and I found him. We've actually become friends and I end up talking to him for a few hours every time I'm there. He actually had me help him out selling stuff Saturday because he was so busy.
