I have a soft spot for tattered notes. They are easily overlooked by many collectors and offer an in to acquiring harder to obtain Series due to expense in higher grades. I have tracked a number of damaged Gold Certs on HA (1 – $126.50) (2 –$149.50). Despite severe torture, the notes still command a nice premium.
Just arrived in todays mail. A 1988A Web Atlanta Star, one of the hardest ONE dollar Star notes to find in CH-CU.....wish I could afford a GEM version, but maybe one day I can upgrade.
