Beautiful note. The detailing is superb - river scene with Salamander on the reverse, and the obverse with an eagle on a cactus
Santa Dollars are real $1 treasury notes, they can be spent anywhere, but only after the Santa seal is removed.
Not on any official US government issued note, but various depictions of Santa are on old obsolete pre civil war notes issued by state charted banks.
. << "So are the Santa notes worth any thing?” >> Like everything else ... they are worth whatever some is willing to give or pay for. Whatever the market will bear. ... I think.
That [100-pesos] award-winning note (IBNS “Banknote of the Year Award” for 2020) features one of Mexico’s national heroines, the writer Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. The reverse “piece de resistance” image features the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, a renowned temperate forest ecosystem. The design continues to highlight Mexican cultural and historic characteristics with new graphic motifs. The banknote also features significantly improved security features as part of the transition to GUARDIAN. Polymer banknotes continue to be popular IBNS favourites.
Notaphylic_C ... You’re costing me some serious $$$ after posting “The 50 Pesos also won IBNS Banknote of the year for 2021.”. Now I’m looking up all the notes involved and in contention and figuring which I can afford. Thanks a lot LOL ... trouble-maker. Lots of years ... lots of notes.
Perhaps you can find a Mexican forum friend who will get the notes for you at face value. It looks like the US suppliers are doubling up on FX rate - 100 Mexican Peso equals 4.94 United States Dollar
Not at all a bad idea. The thing is is that good shopping pays out the same way. As it was ... I paid $8 and change otd. for that Mexican C-note. And I had it in my hands in a week. Some sellers are asking more than that just for the S&H. Thanks for the good idea though.
