I found this yesterday in my safe deposit box. 1 Mark 1944 before Germany was defeated. Notice that the back lists "The Four Freedoms. "
Thanks for the scan. I learn a little more everyday The Four Freedoms were goals articulated by F D Roosevelt in 1941. In an address known as the Four Freedoms Speech (technically the 1941 State of the Union address), he proposed four fundamental freedoms that people "everywhere in the world" ought to enjoy: Freedom of speech Freedom of worship Freedom from want Freedom from fear
Confederate States of America Note December 2nd, 1862. This is an error note. The plate numbers do not match as this is an A and H. I just posted this note earlier this evening.
Very good! Lucky you! I worked in Jamaica for 2 years (1995/96) but the only notes that would have been worth keeping were the $100 (but that was my taxi fare) so I never kept one. I did purchase a couple last year. I remember seeing the odd $1.00 but it was in tatters since it was a coin & nearly worthless. The $10 & $20 were the most common & I would have used these (as tips) or for small change ($27JSD = $1 USD back then):
Very nice! My $10 & $20 would have been very soiled & circulated if I were looking for either (1991 $10 & 1989 $20) while I lived there. Here's a more modern $50 (P-88) Commemorative: I picked up later (2 years older than your $100):
South Sudan - ND (2011) 10 Piasters The 5, 10, and 25 Piasters were never released to circulation, and are pretty uncommon. Now to find the other two...
This month’s “Club” $$$ ... This is a 10 Gourdes Banknote. It is a commemorative issue celebrating Haiti’s bicentennial anniversary of independence. The front shows Sanité Bélair, a Haitian revolutionary who fought and perished in the country’s 12-year struggle for freedom of French colonial rule. She is considered a National Heroine of Haiti.
I did not know that about Belair (interesting). Thanks for sharing @Kashmir Pulaski Here's my two 2 Gourdes from Haiti (the first note is printed by the United States Banknote Co & the second by TDLR):
Having an interest in ancient cultures, and in particular those from central and south Amercia I couldn't resist this half-quetzal from Guatemala with the last ruler of the Maya on the front and the Temple at Tikal on the back.
-that's a beauty @ColonialCoinsUK ! The only note I have with Mayan ruins (other than my 25 Colones from El Salvador, posted earlier) is this $2 from Belize. On the reverse, it features Altun Ha (upper left), XUNANTUNICH (centre) & LUBAANTUN (upper right):
Having a general interest in the wellbeing of Ukraine I thought I’d pick up a few of their currencies. This is what I got ... Ukraine 1 Hryvnia Banknote
