Really nice 35, if it wasent for the visible fold in the back and the slight discoloration I would move that up to a 40, the front is excellent
I picked up my first Lyons-Treat today. Other than some waving and a slight dog ear in the top margin and next to no bottom margin, she's in very nice shape. What say all of you?
Thanks for the likes and responses. I often struggle with this decision, but I'm debating whether to get her graded, even if only to better preserve her. Any thoughts/opinions?
I think grading is warranted on an 1899 in this condition. It should grade in the 60's unless some flaws are hidden in the photo. The value in this condition is very high, so the cost of grading is not a factor.
I got a Greek "mini-bond" recently. This sure was a popular design, used for at least three cities depression scripts [Toledo, OH also used this design, but I haven't picked up one of them]. The Surinam note is the only "real" money I have seen using this design.
I've stored paper notes in baby bottle liners for years. They seem tailormade for size, and so far have had no interaction of any kind with paper notes from several different countries. Don't know if you can still get them as I haven't added any notes for a long time. When you don't have hundreds or thousands kicking around to invest in the hobby, collecting paper notes and specialty coins is a tad expensive.
That is a nice note. I would consider getting it graded if I was going to sell it. It's an expensive holder if you're just looking for preservation.
Ooh that's tasty. I like the old ones with the gold colored ink on the reverse. I own this, but it is not a recent acquisition.
I think the 35 grade is OK. It is EPQ and there is a fold and a stain. Is it worth to try to "conserve" the note (try to get rid of the fold) and resubmit? Or is that risking permanent damage? That being said I'd like to have a gold 20 and I don't. Nice note.
