I know it's been... seven months since I posted in this thread, and it's really terrible timing since I leave town for a month next week... but the great scanning of our time has begun - my to-scan stack of notes literally fell over. I mean it fell. Over. So, I had to start scanning, and if I am scanning new notes, I better start posting the notes I already scanned and haven't posted, since it will take to the end of my natural life to finish. So here... we... go... Today's note is a nice, busy Michigan obsolete $1 from the Bank of Macomb County. There are a ton of little engraved vignettes on this, a big red overprint, an overall nice design with a little something for everyone.
Today's new pickup is this sharp Big Chief with the much tougher Lyons - Treat signature combination in solid VF. Not as rare as the Napier - Thompson sig but the next rarest to it, I like to collect this sig combo when I can. It doesn't carry a huge premium at this point compared to others, but it is definitely much less common. And what else is there to say, it's the Big Chief...
