Here's another example I fished out of a bargain box recently. A Cuba 1 peso note, series 1934. Admittedly it's in awful shape, but you can still read the BEP imprint on the back.
Cuban notes are hard to come by. You can't find them on ebay by searching "Cuba", since that's against ebay rules. I found a nice unc 1896 example under "carribbean banknote" or something like that.
I didn't realize it when I bought it but it's actually TINY! About 1.5" x 3". Any smaller and it would be a postage stamp...
That note is stunning !! the blue purple coloring is just eye catching as far as any similar notes from the MPC world, not with that exact pallet however here is one of my favorites with the similar coloring just gorgeous
I finally got one of these! I loved the 5 Pesos one but everything higher denomination starts getting expensive...
I take it the date on this is 1913. Great note. The other part says: PAY CASH BEARER ACCORDING TO DECREE December 12, 1913
Thanks for the translation! Was this like gold certs, "payable in gold coin on demand" or whatever it was?
Here's one of those notes I bought and then wondered why in the hell I did. I don't even particularly like the design on this thing. Oh well...
IDK. Maybe silver. Have to ask an expert or use Google. I see the notes were printed by American Bank Note Company New York. It's a beautiful note.
That note has a very odd reverse. At first I thought it might be an error, since the back is a mirror image of the front black plate -- just like a face-to-back offset error. But apparently they are all that way!
I can't imagine the purpose of such a design... Maybe they were just too lazy to make another design for the back haha
