Maybe you'd like one of these, I'm still looking for a better quality note but it is quite a beauty as is: ==or if you like "action" notes, how about:
Well that's quite funny, because my next new pickup is... this $5 remainder from the Stonington Bank! This is an earlier release, light delicate engraving on a thin almost silk like paper.
That is an early one -- looks like the imprint is C. Durand, Wright & Co. which puts it around 1823-26. Very beautimous!
I'm assuming it's A.B. & C. Durand, Wright & Co., Merchants Exchange in New York; Asher B. Durand, from the years 1824 to 1832, Durand made a living as a bank note engraver under the firms A.B. & C. Durand & Co., A.B. & C. Durand, Wright & Co., (1824-1828) and Durand, Perkins & Co.(1825-1832)
Well if you liked that Stonington Bank note, you'll surely like this new pickup... this Stonington $3 remainder is my favorite crazy denomination, plus the design elements are fantastic here - from the rotated 3 counters to the Olympian deities and steamboat, sailboat... and someone call Ozzy because the central vignette is one seriously Crazy Train... ayyy ayyy ayyy...
A note I wanted for a 1928a $10 FRN district set. I haven't seen many for sale, and when they come up they're out of my league.
The latest addition to my "fine" district set of 1928c $10 FRN's. I guess Richmond shall be the last.
Amazing what can be found when you're "just looking"; found these recently ==I know, these aren't "real money", but Liberty and a train, what else could one ask?
Sorry to be so late with this reply to MEC2s posting: Actually there are 12 "counters" if you will: 1. the five very ornate "5s" 2. the "FIVE" (four of them) in each corner 3. the rows of "FIVE" 4. the reverse printed, ornate "FIVE" within the row of FIVEs 5. the black "Five Dollars" overprinted the row of FIVEs and the reverse printed ornate "FIVE" What always amazes me about these is so little was done to PROTECT the name of the bank or the name of the State from being changed. Beautiful note, MEC2, absolutely beautiful!
I found this 2013 B star note that should be out of the first run but I can't find any info on it. Does any one know if this a rare run. I mainly collect coins so I don't know that much about currency. Thanks in advance
Sorry for the long pause, got stuck demolishing old countertops in the kitchen for new ones, then had to reconnect all the undersink plumbing, new sink, all that jazz... oh, still have to hook the range up, gotta remember to do that real quick... anyways, that is done, so lets continue posting new pickups. Today's is a spurious $10 from NJ, the Sussex Bank. Not a very common one, and decently done...
Well, "found" the better note but my trigger finger is frozen--can't go the big $$$ but it NICE == original note: == better one:, I ask you -- isn't it a real stunner?
