Been almost a week since a new posting on here. How about I liven it up a bit with my newps of the week. A pair of tough nationals.
Nice notes, everyone! I look at these posts and see the magnificent notes that are posted and really enjoy them. My new note isn't anything beautiful to look at, but it does mean a lot to me. it's the last note of my 13 colony set - New Hampshire - issued June 28, 1776. This one took a lot of searching and I finally got one I can be happy with. They are all pretty scarce, especially without the large cancellation hole in them. If you'd like to see the whole set, with a little note on each one, you can see them here.
New Hampshire 1776? You suck!! I have been looking for one for a while, NH colonials are rare much less a 1776. That and Georgia are my last two for my 1776 collection - the Georgia's are available but a little pricy, but New Hampshire, jeez, cannot get one on the radar screen... So, where do you keep your colonials? Is it locked? Go out during the day do you?
Quarter-pack of 1953 $5 silver certs. It's just enough to qualify for bulk pricing at PMG if I ever decide to get these slabbed.
Nice stuff, guys. I wish our current $5 and $10 looked like the '53 SCs. One of my favorite small size designs.
Thanks for the nice comments guys! Yes, it is a great feeling to complete the set! I’m in the process now if researching the remaining signatories and printers to make a nice write up about them all. I'm abou halfdone now. MEC2 – Yep! I can assure you that that they’re locked up tight and secure. Good luck with your search!
Did you buy it from a dealer or auction site? I scour eBay and Heritage but have not seen the NH's listed anywhere... want to make sure I am looking in the right places.
Hey MEC, Don Kelly has 3 New Hamshires on his site. But all are hole canceled, not sure if those meet your requirements.
All his are 1780, looking for 1776... and they are expensive as hell, I collect money, I ain't made of it...
I picked up this brown seal FRBN for about $20 -- does that seem reasonable? Didn't realize until later that the New York FRBNs are supposedly among the expensive ones. At least according to the catalog -- it doesn't seem to bear out when I tracked some completed listings.
The Horse is one of the 12 zodiac symbols associated with the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Some Chinese believe their fate is clearly tied to the zodiac symbols in the year in which they were born. May the Chinese expression "as you wish" bring you peace and happiness in the "Year of the Horse" and years to come. Wishing you success, wealth and fourtune with the enclosed uncirculated $1 Federal Reserve Note, which features a serial number beginning with 8888. In many Asian communities, the number 8 signifies wealth and prosperity. May this Lucky Money Note bring you success and may all of your wishes be fulfilled in the "Year of the Horse." Actually, the $10 NY FRBN is the least expensive of the 12 districts, considering it had the most number printed at 5,556,000. The next highest is Chicago at 3,156,000. I wouldn't trust the catalog you have. The rarer $10 FRBNs are Minneapolis and Dallas with 588,000 and 504,000 printed respectively. Still $20 for that $10 FRBN isn't bad at all. They usually go for $25 to $35 in Choice Fine to Very Fine.
