Cool Dallas $5 FRBN mec2.......this reminds me why the coin crew used to refer to us currency collectors as rag pickers.
If I tell you you might hate me... about a Jackson over face. SHAPOW!! Speaking of SHAPOW, let's keep the hits right on rolling with this new pickup. Been wanting one for a long time, this one came close enough to my wheelhouse that I spent a little more than my normal budget to grab it. Love the big red seal...
Whew, just in time to make a new pickup post for the day... today's new get is another new obsolete. Crisp dark engraving, and of course, I am a sucker for a big eagle on a note, and, well there you have it... great note and great face up.
Come, let us sit upon the grass and speak of my new pickups, shall we? Yes - today's is a nice star note, 1934-C $20 new back from San Francisco in very nice shape. It tucks in snugly in the empty slot in my currency album that has been long empty, just waiting for this note to arrive. Always nice to get a new star note that fills in one more spot in my quest for set completion...
Glad everyone liked that star, usually it's rarity, quality, and price, pick two... sometimes, I get to pick three! I thought that Jackass would get the oohs and aahs but it flew right under the radar there. Waited a long time for that train to reach the station... Today's new pickup is from Brazil, this 5 Mil Reis note is one I'd had my eye on for a while because I love the reverse, just a great design from ABNCo. Took some time to find a good one... the reverse is spectacular on this note, just spectacular...
I liked them both and the Dallas $5 FRN is scarce in any condition... You are good at finding the scare ones... I have been adding to my SC block collection...
As the old saying goes, I guess if you want to keep the new pickup thread alive, you better do it yourself. Let's wake the crickets up in here, I got plenty of frigging new pickups... This pickup is a solid upgrade for me, nice condition star, 1934-D $10, while any time I can pick up a completely new note is good, upgrading is still pretty good as well...
Well, today's pickup is a popular note, got this one in solid mid grade, will tide me over until I can snare a pristine example at a sneakily low price. Had a great candidate but a paper scuff was too high a distraction so back it went... this one has very good centering and registration for the type, which is notorious for poor alignment...
Got this in change at the bar the other night. With a print run of only 640K, it's a keeper http://www.mycurrencycollection.com/reference/stars/5
Got this 1928 $1 for cheap. A solid VG10 or F12. No tears or pinholes, and no evidence of being pressed. I would not be surprised if this came back a VG10 PPQ if I sent it in. I probably won't grade it or keep it... I just scooped it up because the price was right. Also I got this storage "book" to keep things in that don't fit in my binder.
I collect low grade PPQ notes (10ppq or lower) so if you do send it in and it comes back as a low grade PPQ note I would have a decent bid... I like the look of your new book! I picked up this fairly tough to get 1950A $50 C*, I think it may be the lowest known but I am unsure about that. Regardless, for $90 I am happy with this aquisition:
