Great note funkee, great mind's think alike. We have the exact same note in denomination and bank. :>) There wasn't anything that nice when I went looking. The one I have would be lucky to grade higher than VF35. It has wallet wrinkles across the top edge, which lowers the grade too much. I would post a picture but the new format doesn't want to let me do that. (Yet)
Thanks Dave. I think you'll really like the next one. I ordered it today from another dealer. I'm an ABNCo collector who decided to check out some others. (I don't know why my images don't post full screen I'll work on it.) Mike
Here's a 20 we found in an ATM. Weird. Also this thread was posted on my birthday. And many $2 bills.
This one arrived an hour ago. It started out as as very stressful expensive purchase. After dropping the original vendor then purchasing from scripophily.net all is well. The certificate is blemish free and beautiful. IMO, it's over the top and a break from my usual ABNCo purchases. The posted image is not an image of the certificate I bought. It's a picture of the certificate I originally tried to purchase. My certificate is in much better condition. However, it is much too large to be scanned at home.
Thanks Dave. It's 109 years old and in amazing condition with coupons attached and folded behind. There is so much going on what with the woman holding a torch standing on the anchor and the bear in the upper left hand corner. I'm going to frame it using archival materials and museum glass.
Take the picture before you put it behind glass though. Even glare free will weaken the colors ever so slightly.
Alright, hiatus is over, I got stacks of newps, so let's get it rolling... Why not start with another star? This 1934 Boston $20 does fill a hole so I am pleased - star note pickings have been slim lately, few notes and those that do show are already filled slots. Slowly but surely...
Funkee: I really like the quality on that national... I picked up this 1950D $100 for a steal and I am also happy to be able to upgrade a couple notes within my Ladder Repeater Set: Stickers Suck!
Time to Czech out a new pickup (that never get's old! Oh wait, it does...)... This 10 Korun note from 1927 has a real pedestrian front but a spectacular reverse design that is one of my favorites. I believe this reverse was designed by or was based on a design of a famous Czech artist Alfons Mucha - it certainly looks very much like his style, which I do find very appealing. Add in a nice large size and really unusual but rich color, and we have a wiener! Here it is, and fittingly, I am showing the reverse first - it is that nice.
That is a Mucha designed note, to my understanding. There are about 5 Mucha notes from Czechoslovakia, and the nicest one (imo) is P-22, which shows his classic art nouveau style on both sides. Dave
