Well, since the postman hasn't brought me much, I decided to go ahead and integrate all of my Ace FRBN notes into one frame since I finally got that Minneapolis note in to complete the set a couple weeks ago. Here's the final frame - yes, I know Philadelphia is crooked, grrrr, will fix when I upgrade one of the notes, trust me, getting them lined up is harder than you think, and then when you tilt it up, sometimes, you get a note that shifts... like Philly there...

I am pleased to report a couple of arrivals today, we'll post my Greek note first - this is an enormous bill, a bit larger than old US large size currency, it is the "large size" 10,000 Drachma note, vivid orange, from 1945. Later, in 1947, they released a bit smaller version, with fewer coins in the face design. This is the more desireable, they even have this in blue, which is on my get list... interestingly the back seems to show charioteers, very Greek, but with riders that seem almost Egyptian, like a sideview of Horus. Odd. The bottom my copy of the later note, note fewer coins in the design to allow the note to shrink...

Sometimes, you buy a note because, well, it just seems to be a good deal. Like this one - I already have one, but this came up at a cheap BiN on theBay and so I grabbed it. Richmond doesn't come up that much, one of the more infrequent districts for the 1934 limes...

Well here is a nice pickup for me, a North Carolina 1776 $5 colonial note - thrush, a rather rare issue, I think this make the 5th censused. This makes 10 colonies down, 3 to go to finish my 1776 collection. Need Georgia, expensive, Rhode Island, rare and expensive, and New Hampshire, extremely rare and expensive. Pray for me...

There are some very nice additions since my last post, keep them coming!!!

Steve: Very nice educational series. Its always a favorite!

MEC: your frames continue to amaze me... So I thought I would put up my newest purchase which is an FRBN as well

1918 Richmond FRBN with serial E66A - Is anyone noticing a trend with my posts... I am in love with this note in hand! Currently graded CGA 66 and I think it will cross straight across. 65PPQ at the least, IMO.

Very Nice! That's in better condition than both of my Richmond Aces, and a fancy serial to boot!

Pretty! I think this is the first No. Carolina colonial note I've seen. Congrats!

Hey, did anyone catch the "Pawn Stars" episode that featured the Ben Franklin Pennsy colonial note?

The mailman brought me mail from Egypt today, and I am glad he did, since it contained this dandy note, a nice bright crisp Ten Egyptian Pound note. This note is as large as the big orange Greek note I posted, bigger than large US notes. I really enjoy the ancient historical sites on Greek and Egyptian notes, and this is no exception, with the entrance to the Temple of Karnak on the back along with the Alexandria sphinxes. The front of course has King Tut, born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia...King Tut. Nobody gets me...

So here's the story behind these two new pickup notes. I am collecting all 12 districts in $10 1934 lime green, been harvesting them for at least a year, the last one I needed was Atlanta, district F. Now these don't come up all that often and I really want a nice VF or higher for this collection, which means these Atlanta's are few and far between.

So, I see a really nice slabbed AU58 in November, set my bid but it goes a little north of what I want to pay. It is within a very short time relisted with a much higher BiN - the buyer bought it to flip it. So I wait, and it doesn't sell, and over the next month it is listed and relisted, coming down but not selling. Finally, he relists it for what he paid... and it STILL doesn't sell. Now I am thinking of emailing him and making him an offer off-eBay when he lists it not BiN but auction style... and woohoo I got it. Woohoo, right?

Within hours I discover ANOTHER Atlanta note. I mean REALLY, it has taken me this long and suddenly there isn't one but TWO of these damn things. So, I am go after it... and win it for even less money. It's not quite an AU but I think it's XF, and since I am going to mount it anyways, seems a shame to deslab, so now... *I* am going to have to sell that AU again. The note is cursed! Unless you want to buy it, then it's blessed...

Here they are... the unslabbed will be the last one for my collection, will see about framing them up soon...

BEP Proofs of notes I can only dream of being able to buy one day. Well perhaps the porthole is within reach.

This bottom part of this last print is an 1890 $50 Treasury Note. It's one of the most amazing and intricate designs ever created in my opinion. But the series was never printed.

Here is a larger version of it: http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5112/189050.jpg. The quality isn't printer worthy due to my cell phone camera and shaky hands. The shading in the tiniest flowers in the border area is ridiculous. I cannot fathom how someone did this by hand.

Great souvenir cards, funkee! I am a big fan of these, they offer the best bang for your buck in paper money collecting, imho. There's a Grand Watermelon, too, you can probably pick up for $10-12 or less if you're patient.

True. I have a local dealer who has just about every card.

I passed on the grand watermelon for now because the face was never released as a proof. I was looking to front/back sets.

I was lucky to get the 1891 $1000 silver cert. Apparently that face proof is very hard to find.

Just returned from the FUN Convention and was able to obtain this note from my want list. I posted the East Peroria note earlier so I'm complete on my search for there. But I wasn't able to find the large size Batavia Illinois note I still need. I found another smaller National Bank Note from there, but I had it already. Will keep looking.

Sometimes newly acquired notes are actually in fact, new:

Just love how colorful this is, and surprised a capuchin (aka white-faced) monkey hasn't shown up on a Costa Rican note before now.

Okay, here's todays arrival and it's the gem of my Greek collection - I consider this the finest modern Greek note, and arguably the best Greek note issued. It's the 20 Drachma from 1955, and it's not easy to come by considering all things. The vivid blue and spectacular reverse make it a real favorite of mine. I paid more than I wanted to (I normally bargain hunt so this is an odd feeling for me...) but am overall happy and it looks great in hand and it completes the 1954-1955 series of notes for me.

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

I purchased this star note for $7. Learned that the serial numbers are not perfectly aligned especially the 8 in the left hand serial number. Don't know if that adds any value.
