And it's a new day, and time to post a new note from my dwindling stash of new arrivals. Here's a very nice 1934 Lime $20 from New York, came in a PCGS 58 holder and you can see why, great condition and let's face it, if it's lime it's sublime...
The postman delivers... a chance to break from small stars to a large note, upgraded my Woods/Tate from VG to F with this note, slowly but surely, I think this slipped under the radar, so many of these notes show up on eBay that folks don't check if it's the much rarer 239 instead of the ubiquitous 237... also won a good auction tonight, finishes a set for me, hope to post late next week when it arrives.
Oh indeed I do, but I have yet to run across a Woods/Tate note, even with my tricked out filters. I take it this was a Buy It Now sale?
Funkee - hate to break it, but both of my Woods/Tate are full out 7 day eBay auction wins... if they put Tate in the description then they'd get more action. Good news for you though, my other Woods Tate will definitely have it in the description when I auction it! One of my more epic disappointments was being the underbidder on a VF35 Tate in July. Sad face... Gonna throw a curveball and head off to Greece for my latest acquisition, this is a rarer 50 lepta fractional from 1920, slowly but surely filling up the pages in my Greek section of the binder...
Hardly! Did you think I was using Tate as a keyword? You sir, under-estimate my search-abilities. My filters are: 1923, $1, -237, -238, -fr.237, -fr.238, -speelman, -white, -speelman/white, -woods/white Anything with a - sign is excluded from the results.
Going to share one more new Greek pickup - this is a late year 200 Drachma note, the only 200 Drachma Greece issued (when you look at all the crazy denominations they had, up to 10 Billion Drachma, you get a sense they issued one at every whole number). As most notes from Greece, I prefer the interesting reverse, this one is a scene of the perhaps apocryphal secret schools during the Ottoman occupation. Don't think I have any more Greek notes coming soon, but I do have another country I will show off soon enough...
That yellow is some sort of background, right? If so, you got a nice looking note coming to you. :thumb:
Yes, I used the auction photo. I didn't have the patience to get a good photo through the holder. It is a PCGS 63 PPQ. I also have another really nice large note currently on a USPS truck somewhere.
I like days like today Went to dump some coins and asked the tellers if they had any of the "Large Dollar Coins" or $2 bills. The teller who was cashing me out said she had a $2 bill which I looked at and told her I already had that series. I jokingly asked her if she had any of the ones with the red seals stashed in her drawer and she said no, but she did have these stashed away. :smile
Well, lost an auction tonight by 14 cents, that's pretty effin depressing... alas, one cannot win them all, and I do take a little solace in thinking how great someone else might feel winning an auction I lost. But these failures to close are building up, I do have a few notes in reserve and to mix things up, here is another of the true trinary radar notes I got a couple weeks ago, got a 66, 65, and 64, here's the 65. All of them are trinary and all are true radars (to me if you are going to collect fancy serials true radars are the way to go, the block letter not matching the district makes me itch).
Okay, this here I received today completes my FRBN collection - a choice fine Minneapolis ace. I may upgrade notes in the future but for the first time I have one of every District. Frame, here we come...
Clay, I noticed your Year of the Snake note ends in 132. Mine ended in 732 (600 less) and I received it about 2 weeks ago, did you get yours recently ?
