Hello Everyone... I know my starter post sounds as though I was dissapointed, perhaps in a small way. I can say that the effort that was given by those who did participate was outstanding. Heck, I think we have even enlisted a few more Paper Money collectors which was the whole Idea anyway. Please do not feel as though you need to apoligize, it is not required, however, I appreciate the remarks. I think most of you who worked on this have a new insight on Paper Money as a collectable and a new appreciation of what the histroy of Paper Money has bestowed upon our Country. I chose the Civil War Era as I find it most interesting and the fact the last two books I have read recently were on Abraham Lincoln, the Assination, the Manhunt, the trials and punishments and Reconstruction. Deep stuff...very deep stuff. I wish I had paid closer attention when I was a kid in school! I have enjoyed putting this together and the effort was minimal...it was devised and composed in 2 days and I just wanted to kick it off on my Birthday, and cover a three day period where notes were issued and Presidents honored. It was really a Presidents Day Contest for Abarham Lincoln. The only thing aboutthe prizes was I could not part with any of my $5 Lincolon notes..LOL therefore the Cleveland note and silver certs! Some of the notes of the 4th issue fractional currency actually ended on Feb 15, 1876 and one of them the 4th issue 10 cent note was issued July 14, 1869 and ended Feb 16, 1875. Fractional currency is the only currency of the 19th century which remains still a Legal Currency and have never been demonetized! Regards to all... RickieB
