I have a 1943 P Steel Penny that is magnetic. But after weighing this particular penny I found that it a bit heavier than the other steely's I have. Most of the Steel I have are around 2.60 to 2.70 grams, the penny in questions is closer to the weight of a copper, 3.00 grams. Any ideas?

How about checking the scale. What does a copper penny weigh?

Weigh a copper penny on your scales and see what you get. Your scales may be out a little bit...

If it is a bright and shiny, it sounds to me like someone replated it.

Look, I'm an analytical chemist with over 15 years of experience with 2 different tared out scales, please try to comment on the coin instead of the scale

With tolerances, the '43 zinc coated steel could weigh a max of 2.88 grams and be within specs.

I actually have a 1943 P steel penny that weighs 3 grams. It is thicker than my other steel Pennies as well. Still magnetic though.
