I have a 1943 P Steel Penny that is magnetic. But after weighing this particular penny I found that it a bit heavier than the other steely's I have. Most of the Steel I have are around 2.60 to 2.70 grams, the penny in questions is closer to the weight of a copper, 3.00 grams. Any ideas?
Look, I'm an analytical chemist with over 15 years of experience with 2 different tared out scales, please try to comment on the coin instead of the scale
not replated, seen a hundred of these. Nice dull finish. I'll try and get a pic in here after the LSU game
coin diameter the same? could have been some shaving stuck on the planchet and struck back into the coin? just guesses!
I actually have a 1943 P steel penny that weighs 3 grams. It is thicker than my other steel Pennies as well. Still magnetic though.
