Your coin is from the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), a copper Duit, KM#70. The monogram VOC stands for Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (United East India Company), the Dutch company that had monopolistic control over the area from 1602 to 1799.
The coat of arms indicates it was from the mint in Holland. These coins were issued by a few mints over a wide range of dates and most are common. No need to get it professionally authenticated. The value is too low to be worth it
Thank you, Parthicus, coin_nut, and Oldhoopster! I sure came to the right place to find out where this coin came from. You guys are awesome!
When I was very young (OMG, how long ago!) these were the least expensive way to own a coin dated in the 1700's.
