Am I mistaken, isnt there 31.103 grams in a troy ounce? Then why would someone pay 60 dollars for 5 grams? http://cgi.ebay.com/PAMP-SUISSE-5-g...171?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b910cb7b
Pamp Suisse are highly collectible and 5 gram silver bars from them are unusual. Price is market correct.
Geez people, Folks are paying prices like this for stuff off of TV shows every damn day. Some of the stuff they sell is patent garbage, but even the good stuff that's slabbed and/or cherry picked is over priced by anywhere from 50-100%. And this real kick in the teeth, is that sooner or later these folks bring this stuff into the local dealer and try to sell it. The dealer offers fair value and because it's lower than what was paid, the seller stomps out all ****ed at the DEALER!!!! I'm not a dealer but it really does give us all a bad name. peace, rono
i sell plants on ebay and always use the words rare and unique in my title, seems to help sales. one lady asked why this particular plant is considered rare, i told her its because i only have 2 to sell.
Hey, I'll give you $60 for six nicely-preserved silver trimes -- and that's only 4.5 grams total weight, a mere 4.05g ASW!
Do an advanced search for Pamp Suisse bars and see what they're going for. If JM bars are the Cadillac, then Pamp Suisse bars are the Porsche. People pay double spot for their bars all the time. There's large demand and not many for sale so there's your result.
I'd rather pay for 5 grams then the 1 gram or items sold in grains. It's not that rare of an item. I've seen them at APMEX.
One thing I learned long ago is that the price of something has very little to do with its real worth or what it costs to produce. Its all to do with what people are prepared to pay for it. That's why the marketing dept is paid a fortune! My Dad ran a factory that manufactured machine parts and he once explained that it didn't matter that it cost almost nothing to make a part. If somebody needed them and there were no competitors, then they charged what they could. I'm sure that the Pamp company must be celebrating that they managed to get their stupid 5g bars accepted as 'collectible'. Their marketing guys are probably still in the party. Steve
Their 2.5g, 10g, 20g, etc. all bring big premiums and bring them every day. It's not just Pamp, hundreds of products fall into this category. Rolex watches anyone?
I have made deals which I've paid too much but really wanted the coins. I can live with myself. If only I had started coin collecting earlier, like 10 years ago. Silver coins were so much easier to find. But I still greatly enjoy the hunt and the beauty and the designs. The past is always 20/20. The future looks very interesting too.
