@Ryro, trying to stop my laughing long enough to post this coin: a fourrée elephant. @Parthicus didn't help matters with veni, vidi, vici...

Nice coins and cool write-up, Mr. @Ryro !

And like that I am 2 days older than Julius Caesar.

I captured this one because of it was minted during the last 2 weeks prior to Caesar's assassination.

I have some provincial bronzes of his but they are in poorer condition and I haven’t taken any photos. These are my only other coins that have any relation to him, his kin, and his enemies all posthumous. EA7B251D-D15D-452C-BDFF-C4BE52EDEFBD.jpeg

    Great thread! Thanks @Ryro ! ! !

I want to share two Julius Caesar portraits. The first is mine. The second is not.

Mine is below, and is truly a budget version of a Julius Caesar portrait. But I'm quite content with it! :)

The one below belonged to a very close friend, but the coin was stolen. :-( It isn't/wasn't a beautiful, gem example... and it has/had a few obvious problems, but the portrait is/was fully decent! Sad that someone would steal such a coin!

Sad situation. Curious. How was it stolen?

Well, THAT'S an even sadder story. I will send you a private message. But in essence it was stolen from a display of my friend's coins.

I'm pretty sure that it was his old drinking buddy Vercingetorix that showed JC that first part of Gaul... up his skirt. Caesar had him strangled for this. That's why today when a man wears a skirt they call it a kilt, cause it got Vercingetorix KILT!
