Well, the highlight for today was buying this token for half price:

    http://www.coinraritiesonline.com/index.php?page=search&task=det_pl&offset=86&gal_id=1

I've been tracking this for awhile and knew they had it overpriced. Again, the Conder market is small and while this is a rare token (<75 made) in wonderful colorful condition, their typical buyer doesn't go after these. Me, however, get very excited (even "giggly" has my mood avatar indicates!) when I come across something I want at the right price. (This same type token was the first Conder I bought back in September but had decided to send back due to spotting).

I also took my free SLQ book to the author, Mr. Cline, for his autograph. I also had a very nice long conversation with Anthony Swiatek regarding my U.S. type purchases which he agreed to examine (and liked their originality and eye appeal). He also suggested that the coin market is due for a major fall and feels buyers should wait until after Central States to buy. He thinks dealers are stocking up on their nicer things and trying to unload the "widgets" (my term, not his). He sees many dealers who will try to ride out the storm and hoard the good stuff. He said he's having a good show so far, but that Baltimore was terrible because he only bought one coin and sold it for a $200 profit. One transaction, that was it.

Ah well, I am rambling a bit as Led Zepplin ("ramble on") would say, just not with various women as in the song!

Time to get back to the show!

Cool token. I like how the guy is brown and the lettering is brown but the background is a nice Redish brown color. You know what I mean? :goofer:

Glad to hear you found something, Catbert! John and Dave @ CRO are good to work with, and sounds like you're a tough negotiator!

Well - truthfully, it was something they had to move since it sat on their website unsold due to they had overshot this one on the price. There wasn't much negotiation.....just patience on my part waiting to see what they'd do. You are right, they are nice people.

Sure hope you look me up at the show.

I got to meet this morning with dready again, Mr. Coin Lover and his son, and down from the north - north89guy! FreakyGarrettC came along later and will have some news for you. We all had a good time meeting each other and talking about some of you weird guys on CoinTalk - both present and banned members! Leadfoot called in and gave his regrets on being strapped into his office chair and couldn't attend.

Did make another purchase even though I had resolved to stop blowing cash given my previous purchases. It was another Conder token (okay - you can snore now) that is got a lot of red on the obverse that depicts a large hospital for small pox victims. Remember, back in the late 1700s, that illness would likely be a killer. Unfortunately, there were no sickly looking people shown - just a rather large building.

BTW - that coin I was raving about earlier that I bought at the Heritage auction was a Barber quarter. dready told me I had forgotten that little detail in my enthusiastic posting about this show.

    Got to catch my flight!

It was a great show, I snagged a few good deals, mainly paper money. It was nice to see some fellow CTer's there!

I just made it home myself. Wow what a big show. Only had two days and now wish I had planed for four.

We got home a couple of hours ago and had a great-great time. Met Catbert, dready with his friend visiting, and Freaky Garrett to include his parents. Got a couple of semi-key buffalos while there. A little lesser in grade than I wanted, but one with a full horn and the other all except the tip. I got in a conversation with a few other buffalo collectors and they were telling me these are not slowing down at all in price. Well, we went on and on, but anyway I am very happy because I was able to trade some of my extra Peace Dollars for the two I got. That made sure I did well and the dealer also will do well. I have never seen anything like this, it was awesome. My oldest son went with me and I am so excited he had such a great time. I was ready to go, but he still wanted to look around and me explain things to him. Well, by the time we left he had made a decision he wanted to start his own collection and wanted my advice. We talked about cents (I did explain to him the diffeence in referring to them as pennies vs cents) and Jefferson nickels. He picked the memorial cents. So happened I had about 5 change rolls at home. We roll collected and got about a fourth worth keeping, found a 68S and two wheat cents. He got some gifts from some places for two reasons, because he is a kid and because some were impressed by his manners. As always I was so proud of him. He was telling me he had no idea how big coin collecting is and how many coins there are for people to collect.

That is great! Its awesome that your son has gotten into collecting. I hope when I have kids they will do the same. Sorry I missed most of you today. I did end up seeing Catbert and Dready. Any of you guys see Lincoln there? There was a guy that looked exactly like Lincoln at the show, was pretty funny:D

I am so sorry also that I missed you. Yes, my son's interest made my day so much. I was fun to observe how different he would treat a "keeper" compared to one going to be re-rolled. How he checked each coin with a magnifying glass if it wasn't unworthy by just observation. He is already tough on any rim dings. When he found that 68S it was as though he found an 1877 IHC. By the way I did not see Lincoln, wished I had though. Again, sorry I missed you. I had to pan for gold for awhile.

Hehe, that must have been awesome watching your son, he must make you proud. I'm sure someone somewhere got a picture of him hehe. He shook catbert and I's hand though :D

Dready's friend took a picture of the three of us. I saw it and it came out great.
