That is a wonderful group of coins @Orielensis especially the bracteates. My favorite is the bracteate from Magdeburg. The detail and iconography on it are fantastic. Now that my English collection is starting to play out, bracteates were an area I am getting more and more interested in.

I can very much understand that – it has a particularly amazed feline facial expression. I'm also happy to report that bug-eyed big lion is so far getting along well with its little companion, smirky small lion:
MA – Italien, Sicily, William the Good 2.png
William II "the Good", Norman Kingdom of Sicily, follaro, bronze 1166–1189 AD, Messina or Palermo mint. Obv: Lion's head left. Rev: Kufic script: "al-malik Ghulyalim al-thani" ('King William the second'). 14mm, 1.87g. Ref: Spahr 118.

What a nice gift! I hope you'll post it here.

Good to hear that your English collection is evolving – I hope to see more of it here soon. Also, I'll brace myself for more competition in the bracteate auctions to come. :)

    Thanks for the compliment!
