63 is the lowest seated quarter dcam pcgs has, theres also barely any in any grade. There's 60 and 61s with Cam though and even 1 58 thats a cam.
I think that this one would be a candidate for DCAM. The mirrored fields are just as impressive as the frosted devices. But those hairlines......
Great looking coin! Amazing that there are still some of these old proofs out there that haven't been slabbed yet.
I'm waiting to see what PCGS thinks. I really think the lines are die polish lines as the lines don't seem to be evident in the devices. Also, there seems to be some continuity of the lines in the fields from one side of the devices to the other, a case for die polish lines. Either way, I wish they weren't there but it's still a wonderful coin.
Nothing drives me crazy like die polish versus hairlines. Heritage images for these show die polish on almost half of them and they're all different, like they polished the dies in between each coin. That makes finding one to match yours a needle in a haystack. Then you turn the coin 10 degrees and they all disappear. Of course many times it's obvious whether it's cleaning or polish, but I sure can't tell with this one.
I just got the grade from PCGS on the coin. They gave it a grade of PR64DCAM! It is now the 5th 1882 DCAM that they've certified. It definitely makes up for the grades I got on several other coins I submitted. Time for a tall scotch on the rocks!
That's an awesome grade on a spectacular coin. Congrats. I'd be making that scotch a nice single malt, and make it a double while you're at it.
For anyone interested, here are the TrueView images. Look a lot better than the ones I took with my smartphone.
