Have this 1873 type 1 double liberty Indian head cent. Was wondering what everyone would grade this coin. Thinking about maybe sending it in again,or at least to get CACed.

I think it would be a "Detail" grade, appears to be dipped or stripped of it original finish

Its just the lighting in the picture ...it's straight graded in a older pcgs slab. Had a few people look at it already and said def would get at least a CAC...Maybe I'll take some better pictures with some difused lighting

Really rare coin. S-1b. Only a few at this grade level. The image makes me think AU-58 but I'll bet it's a 62 or 63. Great coin.

Newbie here, very cool coin, because of wear at the high points below the "BE" in Liberty and at the top of the ear and ribbon I would go 58.

This coin is XF40. The middle diamond in the ribbon is too worn for an AU grade.

Agree this should get XF grade, there is significant wear.

    but the question is...

is the diamond missing because of wear or incomplete strike?

XF45 details. I think it was cleaned. Certainly NOT CAC material. May not even receive a grade.

Save your money for another monstrously rare IHC error? This is the second most valuable variety in the entire Indian Head series, and is probably worth $3000+ as you see it.

I notice slight wear on the bottom hair curl, "B" in LIBERTY, and front tail feathers, along with what looks like little to no original mint luster, too. This is why I graded it XF40.

Some of you nailed it..I agree with the somewhat weak strike.

I have all my 73s already. The Au58 is one of the nicest I've seen without going into ms money. The ms64 is the type 2 one.
