    Thoughts on grade?

How bad does the rim ding and dark toning affect grade and value?

VF-35 but I think the rim ding precludes grading Darryl.

Yeah, I'm afraid that goes beyond "rim ding" to "mutilation".

Not quite enough detail at the wing tips for XF, but I do like the solid details. Is there any luster lurking under the toning? Any signs of cleaning?

No luster and no sign of cleaning. It is too bad about the rim. Otherwise a nice circulated coin.

Is the darkness of the coin toning, or the photo itself?

VF details, but badly damaged with the rim damage--far worse than a ding.

I'd say the obverse ding probably wouldn't body bag it, but sadly the reverse rim ding would likely get a VF details.

So do you think the value is melt???

No, definitely still worth a small premium. I'd price it somewhere in-between a problem free VG10 and an F12.

I would agree--it has a small premium, but the damage is unfortunate, as it would be a nice coin, otherwise.
