Hey everyone, I'd like to get opinions on grade, authenticity, and value for this coin. I believe I have it attributed correctly: KM 1135 Korea (Japanese Protectorate) 1/2 Won Mintage: 1,000,000 .800 fine silver (.2605 oz ASW) Krause values: F ($100) VF ($200) XF ($350) UNC ($800)
Looks genuine. Strong XF however some carbon spots. It's really up to the buyer to decide how much he / she wants to pay for it. It's a one year type for this coin. At minimum, you should be looking at least 250 - 300 dollars otherwise you might as well wait.
I would agree on gxseries' value estimate for a dealer sale. Low start price auction I feel would be more around $200. If it helps, I sold one on ebay 2 years ago that was the same grade, but had light surface hairlines on both sides. That one ended at $130 and change.
Thanks everyone! I've been looking on eBay, seems like they have been selling for decent money. *NGC AU Details for $217.50 *PCGS AU58 for $435 *Raw in slightly better shape for $338 I'll probably start it tomorrow as a 10-day auction with a reserve or a $250 minimum starting bid. Why not?
The $338 one is in a bit more than slightly better shape, but for it's worth I have my suspicions about that one due to the person selling it and some of their other coins over the years.
