Opine on this 1856 Seated Liberty Dollar

    Yes that used to be a very common series of fake seated dollars made from dies created from an undated hub. Many of them had very bad dates like this one, but others had rather passable dates. But they all had that major gash in the horizontal stripes on the shield on the obv. Another series used a reverse from a fake rev that had a MAJOR doubled die. It was so far off that the U in UNITED had four completely separated uprights. I haven't seen any of those fakes in several years now.

    The 5 and 6 were created in a Play Doh Fun Factory.
