    Hello all!!

Would you open up a mint/proof set and put each in a 2x2 holder? How good are old cellophane holders from the fifties and sixties and seventies? Reason I'm asking, I won an auction bid of 1973 Virgin Islands proof set. It came in the mail torn. I removed all the coins except the 25 cent piece. The cellophane was stuck to it.Now I have a coin with stuck stuff on it.Not a pretty sight.So.................I have quite a collection of US mint sets in cellophane.Should I remove each coin and put it in a 2x2 holder to organize or should I just leave them alone as they are.Everyones opinion is appreciated.

My first thought is, if nothing seems 'untoward', do nothing. As for the Virgin Island specimen, with the 'sticky' stuff? Acetone.....

A lot of the mint set packaging is unstable. The worst are the '68 to '81. The coins should be removed and then soaked in alcohol (91%) or acetone.
