Yes, they had a niche. It is going away because it's cheaper and easier to get those items online. The reason Radio Shack is dying is because they have not adapted with the times. There is nothing else to it. Grocery stores are probably the only "old school" retail left. Everything else is changing. A ton of people do...companies that offer this also give free return shipping if you are no happy. My wife orders a lot of clothes online. Actually...many are adapting. That is why they have online sales capability and are closing a lot of their stores. Many places offer this. OK Tim.
Yeah...but it's OK to use "unethical" corporations when it is beneficial to him. That is why he uses eBay but bashes them at the same time.
Really? Were the Pakistanis in on the whole deal? How about Bangladesh? Did they conspire with the Anglo-Americans to screw that huge population of Indians? I am 9/32 card carrying member of the Cherokee Nation - Native American, First Nations. Not some southeast Asian person.
Kmart's by themselves are great stores with probably the best customer service vs "your own your own" at Walmart. I only go to Walmart if something is priced a great deal cheaper there, or they carry something that Kmart does not. Everytime I have gone to Walmart, nobody in the store knows where ANYTHING is at, unless maybe they tripped over it. "what we have is what we have" is the usual reply I get. The problem with both Kmart and Sears, is that the person who runs the company, had previous experience as a hedge fund operator, and it's killing us off slowly. Instead of fixing up an under-performing store, they just close it. Our stores are outdated because we are not allotted enough money to fix them, or we would. We use registers that are 12 years old that constantly act up. The guy who runs Kmart/Sears wants to make the company as much money as possible, but is doing it in the wrong way because his previous experience as a hedge fund operator is ideas that might work for hedge funds, but don't work for retail companies. Our local sears store is closing and it makes me sad of how I used to go in there all the time as a kid.
Indians as in Native Americas, not the Indians in India. I am either 1/16th or 1/32nd Native American, and it makes me sad how we just basically told them to "get lost". Of course the Native Americans lived peacefully, did not own land (wanted to build a teepee? Just go somewhere and do it), did not have economic castes like we do, and best of all, PAID NO TAXES. Of course since we are capitalist, that idea is just too perfect so we killed/starved/raped/tortured 90% of them so we could steal their land and install a much "better" system so everyone can pay tax.
Really? I shop at Wal-mart in the morning, same people working there all the time - you know the early shift. They are the friendly bunch, the German lady with the accent, the little ginger haired lady, they all smile are friendly and very conversational. Couple of years ago I was in a Wal-Mart out on the Left Coast. I was looking for some souvenir to bring home to the kids. I literally found an awesome associate that led me through the store looking for suitable items. There are good people everywhere, K-Mart, Sears, Wal-Mart. You just can't seem to find them like I can. I have people at Sears that know I won't buy from anyone else, because they are knowledgeable and trustworthy. If some appliance is junk they tell me so.
Yeah, funny story - my ancestors got lost alright, on the Trail of Tears. While the rest of them followed the point of the gun to the "Indian Territory" my ornery ancestors took a wrong turn and ended up in the Republic of Texas - where their old friend President Sam Houston welcomed them and gave them a land grant in the Red River Valley. Getting lost was a good thing.
A couple of things... 1) I have accounts with B of A for the last 20+ years. I have never had any big issue with them. But I don't bounce checks, I pay my mortgage, etc. 2) Detecto, If you put half the energy into your job as you do complaining here, you might just get ahead. 3) I agree that the native americans have been screwed over way to much in the past. Today, at least here in Washington state, they have a pretty good deal. All the fish they can catch and all the casinos they can build. And they don't have to give the state a cut.
bank of america does suck but if your parents have an account there you can get an account under them so you do not have to worry about fees. If not you can deposit your $500 keep $300 in it and keep going later on clean out the account and use the federal union.
Same thing here, except the fish. Unfortunately we do not have salmon here, otherwise I would be in on the deal. But the casino here has generated over a billion dollars in revenue. The local tribe has so much money they cannot get rid of it all on the reservation so it funds hospitals, schools, etc. They employ hundreds of even non-tribal members - just cannot find enough people when business is growing all the time. Now they are building a new hotel and waterpark. Because my particular affiliation has been so against casinos and gaming, I have long felt the same way. But seeing what some of these other nations are doing really bends the thoughts.
You have to be 1/4 to qualify for federal grants. And you have to prove your ancestry, which for me meaning I had to have an ancestor on the so called "Dawes Roll of 1906". Let me just mention that because of casinos and their perpetual funds it has gotten much much more difficult to prove ancestry and draw benefits. In fact a lot of people who were members of tribes were dropped because of spotty paperwork.
Tim, I grew up in an area which was once populated by at least two different "Indian" tribes that no longer exist. One was almost entirely slaughtered, while for the most part, the other was too but what did remain was moved east and placed on land and used as a buffer between these "land thieves" and the whites. Wanna take a guess at who these slaughtering "thieves" were? This, of course, is not to justify what happened to other native populations or any other group that we now see as being treated unfairly. The point is that for someone who constantly feels the need to remind us of how intellectually superior he is, you certainly seem to have a very narrow view of history and the world in-general.
i decided that ill take them to the bank where i have an account $100 at a time in 5 different trips. next week i (hopefully) get 500 ikes, and do the same thing. after that i'll stop ordering for a while until may, when my grandparents will be able to drive me to and from the bank. i will continue to buy loose rolls/coins, which i have better luck with anyway. i can get rid of smaller amounts of coins easily-- people at school always need change for a twenty
I think the issue here is...he is someone who looks for a little piece of history that supports his argument and uses it as an isolated fact. Rather than taking things in context.
i guess i should clarify... there is a BoA about a mile from my house where i order boxes. they are always very friendly about it and dont care that i dont have an account. i carry them in a backpack on my bike (good exercise ) then, after i search them, i re roll them and put them in a duffle bag. i carry this to school, stick it in my locker, and after school is over i take them to the BoA next door to trade for cash. the teller there has been getting pretty annoyed lately. last friday i was dumping a box and she told me it would be the last time if i didnt get an account. there is also a UMB down the street from it where they save me all the CWR / loose halves and ikes. the bank where i have an account is about 4 miles from my house, which is no problem if i dont have 30 lbs on my back. my parents dont really approve of my crh-ing, so they wont really cooperate. whenever i bring home a couple boxes of halves my mom acts like i just went and wasted $1000. (she still doesnt understand that im not spending any money). my grandparents, however, love the idea of CRH and are always getting me halves from their credit union and are willing to drive me to banks all over the place, but they live over an hour away, so i cant rely on them for weekly transportation
Can your grandparents adopt me? I cute, see my picture <--- I just want the $1k to blow on my CRH adventures.
jlogan...you display nothing but gumption our young friend! Biking half dollars around....something I am sure our favorite resident communist would never attempt let alone accomplish. Keep up the hard work and dedication. Your already a success.
