Hi all, I was looking at the website of a major dealer to see what kind of inventory they had up and I was surprised to see not much offered. Has anyone else noticed some dealers are not transitioning to online sales, or not well? I ask because I would be happy to buy more coins from this dealer if I could see what was for sale. Thoughts?
It depends on the dealer I guess. It's been like an all you can eat buffet for me, that's why I am posting multiple coins in new posts, something I rarely do.
When I was actively participating in eBay auctions and sales, you'd be surprised how often I would ask sellers if they had other items available. Keep in mind that it would be to their advantage to sell you something outside of eBay and save the listing fees. Just be nice! All they can do is say, "No!" ~ Chris
There are two kinds of dealers: those who need the money and those who do it because they want to. I know several that are retired from jobs that left them well financed that do it for the thrill of handling all those coins and being social with people who like ancient coins. The ones in it as a hobby can be taking a break and will return when they want to. The ones that are trying to feed a family might need to be adapting.
@dougsmit I agree with the breakdown of hobbyist vest pocket dealers and people earning their income. If this wasn’t the latter I would never think twice about it.
